– Genie Dawkins

Why Me?

As an Amazon Bestselling Author of “Not My Child: A Navigating Your Child’s Learning Difficulties with IEP’s and Educational Resources”, I am familiar with the journey of balancing your child’s diagnosis while maintaining your inner peace.

I spent two years of my boy’s life who both have Autism Spectrum disorder and Dyslexia early diagnosis, literally running to various therapy appointments. Rinse and repeat for at least 3 days of the week. It was as though I was in a daze and the only time I rested was when I slept.

Every week the therapist would give my kids homework which we had to work on weekly in addition to their school work. Whenever I thought we were getting closer to a particular goal, I would receive the news from a specialist that we needed to see another specialist.

It seemed as though the list kept getting longer and longer. I realized there had to be a better way.

I started on a journey of self-discovery which lead me to start pacing myself and connecting with my kids beyond the diagnosis. Once I connected with myself, it cleared the space for me to connect with my children on a deeper level where I could become a better advocate for my kids.

I realized that it’s not the diagnosis that I need to learn, but my child. Every child is unique and every child learns differently, including special needs children.

I learned the secret to truly having an individualized IEP which led to:

— My oldest son who was 2 grades behind in reading is now 2 grades ahead.

— My youngest son who had given up on school is now in a private school and loves to learn.

I want to help you become a confident parent and understand your special needs child so both you and your child can thrive.

Genie Dawkins

Genie Dawkins makes things happen. I don’t know what I would’ve done without her. She informed me on how to deal with my child who has ADHD and she worked with me in acquiring an IEP for him. The information and assistance she gave me was invaluable! I am so grateful. I would recommend her to everyone!

Tamara G.

Mrs. Dawkins explained the process to me in detail which allowed me to prepare better. She also went to meetings with me until I was comfortable to advocate on my own. She advised me on how to create a sustainable IEP. I could not thank her enough.
